Who we are
FSFOMO covers a weekly newsletter about Microsoft Flight Simulator and the FS FOMO companion app (airport lookup, weather, checklists, and a personal flight logbook), both operated by Niche Freedom Limited (trading as FS FOMO), a company registered in Ireland under company number 727588, with its registered office at Marina House, Clarence St., Dun Laoghaire, Co Dublin, A96 AX76, Ireland. Niche Freedom Limited is the data controller for the purposes of the GDPR. You can contact us at [email protected] or through our support page.
The two products handle data very differently, so this policy covers them in separate sections below: the newsletter (which collects your email address to send you issues) and the app (which doesn't collect anything at all).
FSFOMO Newsletter
This section covers fsfomo.com and the weekly email newsletter.
What data we collect
When you subscribe to FSFOMO, we collect your email address. That's it. We don't collect your name unless you choose to provide it, and we don't use tracking pixels, third-party analytics, or cookies on this site.
If you use our support form, we collect the email address and message you provide, solely to respond to your enquiry. We don't add support-form contacts to the newsletter list unless you separately subscribe.
Why we collect it
Your email address is used solely to send you the FSFOMO newsletter. We will never use it to contact you for unrelated purposes, and we will never sell or share it with third parties for marketing.
Legal basis
Under the GDPR, we process your email address on the basis of consent (Article 6(1)(a)). You gave consent by subscribing. You can withdraw consent at any time by unsubscribing. Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link.
How your data is stored
Subscriber data is stored and processed by Bento (bentonow.com), our email delivery platform. Bento acts as a data processor on our behalf. You can read their privacy policy at bentonow.com/privacy.
How long we keep your data
We retain your email address for as long as you remain subscribed. If you unsubscribe, your data is removed from our active list. You can request complete deletion at any time by emailing [email protected].
Your rights under GDPR
As a resident of the EU/EEA, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Restrict or object to our processing
- Request portability of your data in a machine-readable format
- Withdraw consent at any time (by unsubscribing)
- Lodge a complaint with the Irish Data Protection Commission (dataprotection.ie)
To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected].
FS FOMO App
This section covers the FS FOMO app (airport lookup, weather, checklists, and logbook) on the web at app.fsfomo.com and on iOS.
The app doesn't collect your data
The app has no account system, no login, and no user profile. We don't collect, store, or have access to any personal data from app users. There is no analytics or tracking SDK of any kind built into the app.
Everything you enter, saves, or checks off, your logbook entries, checklist progress, and any custom aircraft you add, is stored only in your device's local storage. It never leaves your device and we never see it. Uninstalling the app or clearing your browser's site data deletes it completely and permanently; we have no copy and no way to recover it.
Network requests the app makes
Looking up an airport uses data bundled inside the app itself, no network request is made. Looking up live weather sends the airport code you entered to our own proxy server, which forwards it to the US National Weather Service's public aviation weather API and returns the result. That request briefly passes through our infrastructure (Cloudflare) and the US government's, as any network request does, but we don't log, store, or attach any identifying information to it beyond what's needed to serve the request.
Third-party data used in the app
Airport data is from OurAirports (public domain). Weather data is from the NOAA/NWS Aviation Weather Center. Neither involves your personal data, only the airport codes you look up.
Questions about the app

Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we'll note the updated date at the top of this page. We won't notify subscribers of minor updates.
